An illustrated review of the participation of women in the exploration of space from the early days of astronomy to the current ISS Station commander Peggy Whitson. Includes female participation in pushing the frontiers of aviation, supporting early space programmes and finally making the journey from Earth to space, and the political, social and medical hurdles that had to be overcome.
